CRI Team

Kamal Hamdan is the Managing Director at “Consultation and Research Institute” (CRI) established in Beirut in 1977. He has supervised and coordinated a wide range of studies and projects covering social and economic issues, for local and international entities in both private and public sectors. He contributed as senior consultant to many research studies conducted by international institutions, including the World Bank, EU institutions, UNDP, ILO, UNICEF, UNESCWA, UNRISD, UNFPA, UNESCO. He also worked with the private sector on many market and financial feasibility studies. Backed with a highly diversified carrier path, he served as senior consultant to several Lebanese ministerial committees for economic evaluation and reform purposes. His major specific areas of interest are: macroeconomics, labor economics, competitiveness and social development. He has produced many books and tens of publications in well known Lebanese, Arab and international economic reviews and periodicals.

Roger is a partner and a senior consultant at the Consultation and Research Institute since 1990. He was head of the statistics department at CRI between 1977 and 1989. He has participated in many studies undertaken by CRI, mainly those pertaining to statistical surveys, market studies and sectoral economic studies. He was the Research Director of the survey on the Lebanese Population and the war displaced population during 1975-1987 conducted by Saint Joseph University- Beirut and Laval University – Canada. He was a senior statistician and coordinator of surveys at the Central Directorate of Statistics at the Lebanese Ministry of Planning between 1969 and 1976. Roger Hage is a statistical and economics engineer and has graduated from the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique (ENSAE). He has several publications such as “The manufacturing Industry and the Gross National Product” UN/ESCWA, 1987 and “Project of the reconstruction of Beirut Central District” Socio-economic analysis and prospective scenarios, Oger-Liban, 1983

Redha Hamdan is a senior statistician and economist and Vice Director of the Consultation and Research Institute since 2004. He acted as team leader and expert on numerous studies covering several fields of expertise such as socio-economic research, and quantitative and qualitative field surveys. He is a lecturer at the Political Science Institute at the Université Saint Joseph in Beirut. He worked as a statistician-economist at ESCWA Beirut. He was market research Manager at France Telecom Mobile Lebanon (FTML-Cellis) for five years. Between 1995-1998, Redha was a Lecturer of Economics at the Lebanese University and Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers, Beirut. He holds a Maitrise in Econometrics from the Lumiere University (Lyon II), France.

Rania is a public administration and finance consultant at CRI since 2008 and has participated in a variety of studies including sectoral analyses, socio-economic surveys, financial and managerial studies and development studies. Rania attended Indiana University – School of Public and Environmental Affairs and has completed the course work for a Doctorate in Public Affairs. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the American University of Beirut.

Rima is a fieldwork manager  at CRI since 1996. Rima undertakes the supervision of the fieldwork pertaining to large scale surveys including the finalization and programming of technical tools, selection and training of surveyors, as well as the implementation of pre and post quality assurance. She has taken part and supervised numerous fieldwork operations for studies including the World Bank “Employer-Employee Survey for the Formal and Informal Sectors” and the ILO “School to Work Transition of Youth in Lebanon”. She holds a Master in Biochemistry from the Lebanese University and is currently preparing for her BA in sociology at the Lebanese University.

Lea holds a PhD in Development studies from the School of Oriental and African studies – University of London. She is a social and economic development researcher at CRI since 2009 and has participated in a variety of projects and program evaluations and undertook several studies and surveys pertaining to different sectors with focus on education and labour in Lebanon.

Alexandre is a social and economic development researcher who joined the CRI team in 2011. Previously he was based in Kuwait, working at ARA Research and Consultancy as a senior marketing analyst (2002-2010). He holds a degree from the Moscow State University in political economy.

Jinane holds a B.A in Economics from Saint-Joseph University. She is currently pursuing her Master in Business Administration at the American University of Beirut. She joined CRI in September 2015 as a socioeconomic analyst and participated in several quantitative and qualitative studies such as The Program Evaluation of the National Poverty Targeting Program – Ministry of Social Affairs in 2015 and The Multi-Country Survey of Syrian Refugees and Host Communities – The World Bank, 2015-2016.

Zeinab Harkous is a fieldwork coordinator who joined the CRI team in 2010. She coordinates and supervises the fieldwork of large scale national surveys including the finalization of technical tools, selection of enumerators, their training, supervision, and data cleaning. Zeinab holds a Masters in Biochemistry from the Lebanese University.

The Consultation and Research Institute’s database also includes expert consultants on a variety of topics from agriculture, to public finance, local development, the environment, IT, health, development economics, etc. The expertise of these consultants is utilized on a per project base depending on the need of the studies at hand. CRI works in close coordination with the consultants to ensure timely execution of high quality reports.
Further than this, CRI has also developed an extensive network of over one hundred experienced and trained field surveyors across Lebanon. These surveyors are contacted and trained on a need basis and have experience working in various regions and settings.
